150x100 cm ~ Painting, Oil
The light of the street lamps, blurred by streams of water, is reflected in the grey glare of the wet asphalt. In front of me are open umbrellas, their wet folds catch the light, glittering with cold drops.
In the distance, behind the transparent veil of rain, are the silhouettes of people. They walk slowly, hidden by shadows, their figures merge with the street, with the drops, with the sky. It seems to me that I know them. Or maybe it is just the rain that erases their faces, turning passers-by into ghosts?
The umbrellas in the foreground are clear, massive, tangible. And the people are just reflections, elusive, almost dissolved in the wet air. In this picture there is a peaceful calm, humility before the rain, before the instability of the world...
